The Big Pipe Band Contest in Ballymena Hi!
At least, that's how I would have promoted it, but alas maybe next year! The hightly awaited contest, promoted by a picture of our very own William Laffin was to be held in the Showgrounds, and the day was a fine and dandy one!
The big 'love in' continued over the other side of the band this week, as Willy and John further bonded over Willy's 'Bra Strap'. (Ok, bagpipe harness, but 'Bra Strap' is Funnier!). It was truely an insipiration to see two players giving each other a helping hand, and made me want to develop my relationship with Gary, who decided to give the contest a miss, do you think it was something I said?!
This week also saw another member join the pipe band Fraternity, for my very own Fiancee Miss Lynda Brown had her first foray into the world of Pipe Band Competitions. I am happy to report that the wedding is still on, and that she 'Quite Likes Pipe Bands' ;-)
I have also been informed as to a few inaccuracies in last week's reporting. I would like to apologise to the Murry Clan, and anyone who has gone to their house for tea this week, as I have been informed that the tea tray this year has gone to the McClue household for safe keeping, so if anyone fancies a cup of tea, head over to Victoria McClure!
Anyway, After a report mainly dedicated to the Pipe Corps, I would very much like to offer a big CONGRATULATIONS! to Davy Brown and the Drum Corps, who picked up the Best Drumming Prize, but Best Bass as well! Brilliant job guys, we're all very proud! :-D
The Band also won the M&D Prize, and 2nd overall in Grade 2. In Grade 1, Cullybackey lead the field, with the local lads (7 Towers) coming 2nd, and Aughintober coming 3rd!
Next Week: COOKSTOWN!
